Strategic Interventions !

Education and awareness are an essential part of any development program designed and implemented under the auspices of the organization. Generally, the majority of the Pakistani societies are oblivious of their fundamental rights and responsibilities. Unfortunately, our intergenerational knowledge transfer mechanisms did not function well and become ineffectual in the face of fast growing knowledge and information dissemination mechanisms adopted by the current era. In addition to that, the formal education system currently lacks the capacity to instill the fundamental values necessary for the protection of any one element of society from which it can continuously benefit from in the form of sustainable development for e.g. values related to caring for nature. Furthermore, it is limited by its capacity in addressing access related dynamics. The poor, vulnerable and remote communities do not even have access to elementary education of the minimum quality, let alone to improved education.
Our organization has a strong concept for addressing these issues at the very basic levels of every single one of its projects, and therefore we design well defined and result oriented components aimed at raising the awareness of all its clients and target groups in order to enhance their understanding, thus promoting ownership of the programs
Human & Institutional Development
Human and Institutional Development is recognized as one of the key elements to ensuring that sector investment is efficient and intervention is self-sustainable. It is the policy of GRACE to implement all projects with the help of CBOs to ensure the sustainability of projects. GRACE believes that promotion and strengthening of participatory, transparent and accountable local level institutions is an essential vehicle for mobilizing local resources and ensuring their effective and efficient deployment for achieving the desired ends. Therefore, community mobilization and organization is an important activity of the organization. Various capacity building workshops are conducted for enhancing the managerial capacity of network members (CBOs/WOs) on various topics related to social development.
Community Development
This concept is embedded in the fundamental value of “Democracy” within the organization. GRACE’s interventions are fully geared towards and have a principal policy of welfare and development of the community together as a whole. This means that there is participation by all segments of the society in planning and implementation and the result are tracked to ensure that the benefits reach all members without discrimination or prejudice. It is by virtue of this strategic approach that all of GRACE’s past and on-going projects are sustainable.
Participatory Research and Development
Continuous exploration of development needs, constraints and opportunities for identifying issues and trends and formulating future strategies for successful operations is one of the functional approaches the organization has. GRACE spearheads the research methodologies, while their findings are reached by the communities. Even in this regard, GRACE adheres to the strategy of intensive participation by key stakeholders in the design and implementation of project activities, encouraging their ownership of the processes and outcomes. It draws on their motivation and determination to achieve and continue the objectives even beyond the project. GRACE tested and demonstrated this sustainable development model in Kwardo for over 15 years, which resulted in simultaneous development at the local level. This demonstration is now ready to be extended at the regional and national levels with support from national and international communities.
Gender and Diversity Empowerment

GRACE was the first organization in the remotest mountain villages of Baltistan Northern Areas which introduced the concepts of education for females as well as mother and infant health care. Following this, GRACE worked to cater to the specific development related needs of women. It is not until recently that the organization has become more inclusive and geared towards a fuller focus on mainstreaming diversity in its project. Diversity is also defined in the ethical code of conduct of the organization as a matter of institution as well as operation.
Local Resource Mobilization
Local resource mobilization is the cornerstone of all of our strategic interventions. Even when everything is in place and an implementable participatory project has been designed, if resources are not mobilized, all of this is to no avail. Fortunately, GRACE has a tradition of launching micro and medium level projects in which its contribution of resources has always been more than 50%, as mobilizing local resources is one of its biggest strengths. We have a definite advantage of other large projects that simply vanish from the map once the funding is rolled back. This is not the case when it comes to GRACE’s projects.
